Root Canal in Royal Palm Beach
We believe that pain-free dentistry is possible, and we work closely with our patients to ensure a comfortable experience. Root canal treatment is no different.
Root canals often have a reputation for being painful, but the symptoms are the reason, not the treatment itself.
Why Choose Root Canal Therapy in Royal Palm Beach
Root canal treatment is designed to save your tooth in the event of an infection. Saving natural teeth is usually the most affordable way to protect your smile and oral health.
Losing a tooth leads to a number of oral health conditions such as bone loss, a misaligned bite, and difficulty chewing and speaking naturally. Oftentimes, losing one tooth leads to additional tooth loss, which can limit the foods you eat and cause feelings of self-consciousness when you smile.
Symptoms Leading to Root Canal Treatment
The only way to know for sure if a root canal is necessary is to arrange a dental appointment. Some common symptoms can indicate the possibility:
- Discoloration of the tooth
- A bump on the gums
- Sensitivity to cold or hot food and drinks
- Pain with pressure
We welcome new patients. Even if you have never been to our Royal Palm Beach dental office, we encourage you to contact us right away, so we can help you take the next step to feel like yourself again.
Root Canal Treatment in the Wellington Area
Dr. Steven Bussell will explain what you can expect when you have a root canal.
The first step for our team is to make sure that you feel comfortable throughout your procedure. Every patient is different, and Dr. Steven Bussell is known for helping even the most nervous patients feel at ease. Many patients report that root canals feel similar to a filling.
Dr. Bussell will make a small access point in your tooth before thoroughly cleaning your tooth’s infected canal with precision rotary instruments. Rotary instruments are the gold standard of root canal treatment because they make treatment more efficient and accurate.
Once the canal is free of damaged tissue and bacteria, Dr. Bussell will place medication inside the canal to assist with healing. He will then fill the canal and seal the tooth.
What Happens After a Root Canal?
After your root canal procedure, it’s normal to have some sensitivity for a few days as the body heals the infection and reduces inflammation. You should feel gradually better until the pain and sensitivity resolve completely.
At this point, we often recommend a dental crown for your tooth because root canal teeth are more brittle and may fracture. A crown provides the added support your tooth will need to stay intact.
