If you’ve ever had a dental emergency before, you know the feelings of panic and dread that can accompany the situation. Dental emergencies can be scary and inconvenient, but you don’t need to go through them alone. The next time you face a dental emergency, you can have an experienced emergency dentist in Royal Palm Beach on your side.

What qualifies as a dental emergency?

Much like other medical emergencies, dental emergencies are typically situations that require immediate treatment and cannot wait until the next appointment during regular business hours.

Minor dental issues, such as a small filling falling out or a slight toothache, are not true emergencies. Dr. Bussell can address these situations in a regular dental appointment.

Dental emergencies typically include injuries such as:

  • A broken jaw
  • Severe oral bleeding that will not stop
  • An avulsed (knocked-out) tooth
  • An abscess or oral infection
  • Extreme or sudden toothache

If you experience any of these dental emergencies, or if you are in intense pain due to a different type of dental injury, please contact our Royal Palm Beach dentist right away.

What should I do if I have a dental emergency?

You should always get treatment for your dental emergency right away. If you have a dental emergency, don’t try to “wait it out” or handle things on your own. Call our dental office immediately at (561) 422-1020 both during and after business hours. If your call is in the evening or the middle of the night, our after-hours recording will provide instructions on how to reach a member of our dental team.

Dr. Bussell will most likely want to see you right away so he can assess your injuries and provide the best treatment. Our priority is making sure you are safe, comfortable, and as pain-free as possible. If you are visiting us due to an avulsed tooth, please bring the tooth with you to our dental office. It’s best to keep the tooth moist, so place the tooth in a cup of milk or back in its socket—but don’t touch the root portion!
